29th Parallel Coffee ★★★★
It was a hot day in May, and I was in Fairfax, Virginia attending a school field day for my son. The track and field events were fun to watch, but just before leaving I pulled out my phone. I was curious, wondering if any new, local coffee shops had opened. I stumbled upon 29th Parallel Coffee and my excitement hit the fan! LOL
Located in a busy shopping plaza next to a dental office is 29th Parallel Coffee. A smaller cafe, the inside was pleasant and featured unique art on the walls. The coffee menu was expansive – I had a hard time ordering my usual, (skinny cappuccino). Any specialty coffee drink you could wish for was available to order!
Seeing that nitro coffee was offered, I decided to add that to my order. While my coffee was being made, I noticed a large pour over menu too. This cafe is a bounty for the coffee enthusiast with so much to choose from.
NITRO COFFEE - Nitro is cold coffee on tap that’s infused with tiny nitrogen bubbles, and the bubbles give this coffee a foamy texture, like beer.
I had the privilege to speak with owner. A very nice gentleman, his passion for coffee is clear. Â I only see big things for this coffee shop in the future! Â The coffee was made perfectly and delicious! This place was memorable and I will visit again, making sure I have the time to stay for a while.
My first experience with Nitro brew was actually over a year ago. To be honest, I didn’t like it all! It has since grown on me and I must emphasize that not all nitro coffee is created equal! It is like I say with coffee, fresh is best. So keep that in  mind when you order nitro coffee for the first time. Stop and consider where you are ordering it from.
Rumor has it that Dunkin Donuts is trying to compete in the nitro coffee space and the reviews are not good. Â Recently I was driving home from Washington D.C. and noticed a metal road side sign with the words, “NITRO COFFEE” on it. I HAD to stop. With great reservations, I took a chance and ordered one nitro coffee, no ice.
The funny part to this story is they found out who I was and two employees and the owner stood there as I tasted it. I thought to myself, “Please God, let this coffee be good!” It was actually some of the BEST nitro coffee I had tasted.
Have YOU tried nitro coffee? If you have comment below, I want to hear ALL about it!

As I get older….I find I am praying your prayer more often!
I have tried ‘nitro coffee’ and although I like the fact that it is different, cold bubbles in my coffee just isn’t my thing.
Omg. What a cute little coffee shop. You are making me want a cup now….Yum!
The fact that there’s a great blog dedicated to coffee is AMAZING to me! I love coffee so much. I’m definitely going to have to find somewhere near me that has nitro coffee because that sounds EXACTLY like something my husband would love! Thanks for sharing!

I don’t like cold coffee necessarily but I am definitely a coffeeholic. We visit Virginia once a year and go through this area. I will make a point to stop in and try a hot coffee. Thanks for letting me know about this place.
