The Coffee Shops of Nags Head, NC.

Life at the beach is relaxing and a place where memories are made with those we love. But even at the beach, you may wish to venture away from the sand and waves for a bit to explore. You may just find yourself in the need of a little caffeine fix.

A few months back, my family and I took a weekend to enjoy Nags Head, NC. and its beautiful beaches. As expected, I took some time to check out the local coffee shops and what I found was simply charming. ร‚ย Now I am able to bring you……

Morning View Coffee House & Roasterร‚ย was the first stop. The lovely blue exterior of the building was very inviting. As soon as you walk through the door, you see a coffee roaster in a glass enclosed room in front of you. Morning View roasts their own coffee on location. It is an open cafe, bright and colorful, with a comfortable feel. This cafe offers organic coffee as well as an extensive specialty coffee menu. While waiting for my skinny cappuccino, I noticed a yellow lab taking a nap in the corner of the cafe. The cafe has a relaxing feel to it, cozy couches to lounge in and the two ladies that assisted me were very friendly. Morning View is place to come, relax and slip away from the beach for a bit.

Front Porch Cafeร‚ย was my next stop. This is a large cafe that also roasts their own coffee. Inside is a wall that houses over 15 different coffees for you to purchase. Front Porch Cafe prides themselves on their coffee and organic coffee options. Easy coffee guides can be found throughout the cafe to help you make an educated choice. A large menu can be found of coffee, specialty drinks and tea. Here I also ordered a cappuccino. The barista was very friendly and as I looked around I noticed the decor had an island feel to it with the caribbean blue high top tables and unique flags hung throughout. รขโ‚ฌล“Drink Local Coffeeรขโ‚ฌย North Carolina state t-shirts and locally made coffee mugs were available for purchase. This caught my eye being a huge supporter of local coffee.

Both places offer fresh, locally roasted coffee and a place to relax. Either cafe would be a good choice to try some local coffee while on vacation and purchase a bag to take back home with you, reminiscent of your time at the beach.

I hope this helps you the next time you are visiting Nags Head, North Carolina. Make sure to take a moment to slip away from the beach and support these two fantastic local coffee shops!

  1. When my family was stationed at the Pentagon we rented a house a couple of times in Nags Head but that was 30 years ago and most or all of these places didn’t exist! I love that the coffee culture is growing even in smaller spots like this.

  2. I absolutely LOVE the Outer Banks, and Morning View is one of my favorite coffee spots! Have you ever been to The Dancing Turtle Coffee Shop in Hatteras Village? They have the best coffee ever! It’s way farther south than Nags Head, but well worth it!

  3. Well I now know where to go when we go celebrate our 20th anniversary in a couple years or when we go back to outer banks area. thanks for the tips

  4. Sounds like a lovely trip. Do you ever ask about the relationship that coffee roasters have with their source farms. There’s one particular shop near me that is extremely proud of that aspect, to the point that it kinda put me off of wanting to go back. He was just so arrogant about it… Anyway, is that something you ever discuss? I’m curious if that changes your experience at all.

    1. I haven’t explored that part yet, but is something I’m interested in doing in the future. ๐Ÿ™‚
